Ocean trash – one approach to solution

Considering our recent trash pick up results you may find this European information interesting.   The stuff on the roadsides and in the ditches makes our region look like a garbage dump. It is not just our roadsides that accumulate trash; much of it ends up in our fresh waterbodies and the ocean. The amount of plastic debris along our shore line is shocking.

Perhaps the environmental organizations in the province should be approaching the provincial government with some ideas about a plan of action. One approach that helps fishermen is being promoted by the European Union. Instead of harvesting fish they are harvesting plastics for recycling.
